🚩BLUF: Bottom Line Up Front🚩
Chris Federer from Voltage Control led an activity called Troika Consulting that is handy when a group would like to tap into their collective wisdom to help solve a eachothers challenges quickly.
🚩 RECAP 🚩
Knowing the attendee numbers would be low, the intention of May’s Flash Fifteen was to use the space to see if participants could quickly identify and help solve each other solve a professional challenge they’re going through.
We decided to use Troika Consulting developed by Liberating Structure.
Instructions:
(1 min) Solo time to answer “What is your challenge?” and “What kind of help do you need?”
Groups of three then pick someone to be a client and the other two become consultants.
(1-2 min) Groups have the first client share his or her question.
(1-2 min) Consultants ask the client clarifying questions.
(4-5 min) The client turns around with his or her back facing the consultants Together, the consultants generate ideas, suggestions, and coaching advice.
The client turns around and shares what was most valuable about the experience.
Groups switch to the next person and repeat steps.
🚩🚩Takeaways🚩🚩
It was fun. It’s a great activity to refine skills in asking for help, learn to formulate problems and challenges, and clearly refine listening and consulting skills.
