🚩BLUF: Bottom Line Up Front🚩
Need a fun activity to practice presentation skills, collaborative confidence, and sales? Try out Flurry Plates!
Groups of 3 had a few minutes to create a marketing pitch using a popular Amazon product marketing formula. This wasn’t meant to be serious - it was meant to get everyone connecting, playing around with words, and storytelling.
🚩Session🚩
Set The Stage
If you pay close attention you’ll start noticing that many product descriptions found on the internet use the same sales formula.
Who's the customer
Pain They’re experiencing
Rubbing in that pain
Solution: How it solves the pain
Today you’ll transform into Marketers who use the four-step process to write a product description to pitch back in the main room after. You’ll first take a minute to work individually to respond to these product description prompts and then be placed in breakout rooms of 3-4 participants for 5 minutes to work as a team to write a product description you will then share out in the main room. Make sure each team selects a pitchperson to share out back in the main room.
Remember:
We’d like each teammate to contribute to the product description
I’ll decide the winner
The product you’re selling is a ‘fury plate’.
Instructions
To start, let’s take 2 minutes to brainstorm using the formula individually:
Line 1. (30 seconds) A customer? ex: grandma or a gorilla
Line 2. (30 seconds) Pain They’re Experiencing. Ex: Their food needs to be comfortable
Line 3: (30 seconds) Rubbing in that pain. Ex:
Line 4: (30 seconds) Solution: How it solves the pain
Now, you’ll be placed in breakout rooms of 3-4 to co-create the product marketing for the Furry Plate as a team.
We’d like everyone to contribute to the marketing. Each group can determine a Person 1, Person 2, and Person 3 (and Person 4, if needed) – alphabetic order by name, birth order, etc. #1’s to contribute to their customer, #2’s to contribute to the pain, and #3’s to contribute rubbing in the pain. #4’s contribute a solution
Co-create product marketing for 5 minutes. Remember to select a pitch person before you’re back from breakouts.
Back in the main room, each team shares their product description. Everyone learns and laughs.
*Tips for Presenters: Relax. Don’t take yourself too seriously. 🙃 Have fun!
Debrief the activity.
