🚩BLUF: Bottom Line Up Front🚩
Chris Federer led a simple sketching activity he learned from a colleague and Lego Serious Play trainer Van Lai-Dumon. The purpose of this playful activity was to help participants build relationships and discover new insights through rapid sketching.
🚩 RECAP 🚩
Intro: Here’s a fun and creative activity to get out brains thinking differently. You’ll need sketching materials. But don’t worry, we won’t be judging your drawing abilities. Let’s get started.
Step 1: Facilitator asks a question. (Start with an easy one to help build up the courage. ex. How do you prepare toast?
Step 2: 30 seconds to sketch an answer to the question.
Step 3: Go around and share sketches.
Step 4: Repeat with a new question or stop.
What would constitute a “perfect” day for you?
Do you have a secret hunch about how you will die?
If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any one quality or ability, what would it be?
Finish with a full group popcorn-style debrief.
What was the experience like sketching your answers?
What was the experience like listening to the other participants?
Chatwaterfall (Don’t hit enter until I say)
In one phrase or sentence, what is your key takeaway to share with those who weren't here?
🚩🚩Takeaways🚩🚩
A good question and sketch can lead to insightful conversations with your teammates. As well as yourself! It’s the act of sketching that can draw out ideas that might not surface with analytical left-brain thinking alone.
*Facilitator Note: It might be helpful to do a cumulative series of prompts that build on top of each other. Participants might be more comfortable with the environment they create on their paper.
